about

A studio recording of this song can be heard at theradicans.bandcamp.com/track/hidden-in-plain-view-2 .

Have you ever felt like you control the weather? Like your emotions and your connection with the earth could actually cause a storm or a rainbow or a break in the clouds? This song flowed from Robyn while Hurricane Sandy was pummeling the Northeast in late 2012 and everyone thought the world was going to end. Hard lessons, unconditional love, patience, transition, cosmic connections, and the great flood.

The rest of the song was musically fleshed out with Zach LoPresti in 2012 and brought out with The Radicans at the end of 2013.

lyrics

Pieces of earth stuck to skin,
worshipping what we were born with,
if only the tides could rise higher,
I'd swim 'till I ran out of breath.

Chorus:
Breath is what binds us
and minds are what reel us in,
accepting the paths that will cross
when the times comes.
When fires rage, ice succumbs
and brings floods.

Atoms collide every instant,
so common we always miss it.
Planets align on a cycle
with years in between,
so it's special.

Shadows betray.
Run away.
Rooted in place--
attached in a name to my eyelids.

No matter where you go, there you are.
Hide from destiny, you're still a star
made of light and flesh and guts and heart,
all coursing through our veins when we're apart.

Inhale and exhale,
destiny, nonlinearity.
Sometimes they decide;
sometimes we choose.
Hidden in plain view,
nothing to lose.
