about

Not long after moving into her new house in North Philadelphia, Robyn had a series of potent dreams just after falling asleep where family members who have died and friends whom she'd lost visited her, relaying messages of various forms. She's since continued to have many of these visions and conversations in the liminal space between waking and sleeping, has met several people who've had similar experiences, and considers her communications with the dead a huge gift. This song is for all those who we may no longer see in the material world but who we know are all around us all the time.

lyrics

I'm feeling the weight of your memory
full moons and nostalgia surround me
but nobody makes us feel anything
and we master our own destinies
this space still holds your energy
and you visit me in dreams
but my face in the mirror speaks truly

You said, "Let this night take you,
"let this night take you,
"let this night take you.
"Aim for the night,
"aim for the night,
"aim for the night,
"although it just might swallow you swallow you swallow you swallow you whole
"I will walk with you down this road once known."

A strange day that reeks of old magick,
so I breathe in and temper it all
while the story and blur of your faces
resound in my voice and the grace I now learn.
Though it's too late to heal with touch,
I will speak into the sun,
find forgiveness on the wind.

I pray, "Let this night take you,
"let this night take you,
"let this night take you.
"Aim for the night,
"aim for the night,
"aim for the night
"to sleep darkness light behind your behind your behind your behind your eyes.
The battlefield now becomes your own."

Your dissonance was just a test
to teach me a lesson,
to leave me still guessing,
a hole in my net,
the patchwork still fading,
some squares still need mending.
My needle will thread through this cloth,
and a rolling stone gathers no moss,
so I will stop moving, I will stop moving, I will stop moving.
I will aim for the night, aim for the night, aim for the night
to paint future sights inside my inside my inside my inside my dreams.
I now crave every night in this bed alone.

I'm listening to things more closely,
more open to all your realities,
observing each movement and folly
while I dance to my own melody
and pluck songs from the trees.
The guide in my core she speaks freely
from a depth and an altitude I don't yet see.

I will let this night take me, let this night take me, let this night take me.
Aim for the night, aim for the night, aim for the night,
no more wrong versus right designing designing designing designing this life.
Will you walk with me down this road unknown?
